"Beaufort....Lowcountry's Paradise....Living the Dream"

St. Helena Island Real Estate

St. Helena Real Estate:  The Island is a large rural Sea Island located east of Historic Beaufort. Vegetables, strawberries, watermelons and roadside stands are common. Local artists and their stands are common as well. Fresh seafood off the shrimp boats is a regular ritual and St. Helena tomatoes are famous, plentiful and available in early summer. The island, 64 square miles, is bordered by the Beaufort River, Harbor River, and St. Helena sound, Morgan River, numerous salt-water creeks and marsh. The natural beauty and habitat is spectacular.

There are numerous communities on the island. Fort Freemont, better known as Lands End is a deep-water neighborhood on the Beaufort River. Frogsmore is a hub of what might be called the commercial area and is home to the Penn Center School, the first public school for freed slaves.

Other communities are Coffin Point (Plantation home still exists) on St. Helena sound and Dataw Island on the Morgan River. Some other more scenic communities with salt marsh and creeks are Dulamo Road, Edding Point, Fripp Point, Folly Road and Pollawana Island.
